Hannah’s journey to Africa began long before she met Preston. Through her work with Heart for Africa, she had the incredible opportunity to spend a lot of time at Project Canaan in Eswatini. Over the years, she felt a growing tug on her heart to move there full-time, but she didn’t want to do it alone. It became her daily prayer: Lord, send me someone to do this with.
In late 2024, that tug became impossible to ignore. Hannah took a leap of faith and said “yes” to full-time missions, joining the Spiritual Life team at Project Canaan. She didn’t know exactly what the future would hold, just that she was following where God was leading.
Around the very same time, Preston was in a season of seeking God’s direction for his life. Out of the blue, a recruiter reached out about a role with Third Lens in Eswatini. At first, he wasn’t sure. But after one conversation, things moved quickly and before he knew it, he had sold nearly everything he owned and was boarding a plane to a place (and even a continent) he had never been.
Preston arrived in Eswatini on February 25, 2025, the same week Hannah happened to be there on a trip. They spent 8 days together, just casually, without any grand expectations. But after Hannah returned to the U.S., they began talking more and more… and something began to grow.
That “something” turned into love.
They spent a beautiful 7 weeks together this past summer, deepening their relationship and dreaming about the future. Just before Hannah headed back to the U.S., Preston proposed and she said yes!
Now, they’re preparing for the next chapter: a wedding in December, a move to Eswatini together, and a future of serving side by side in the place God brought them both to, in His perfect timing.
